Bullet Karma Farms Horseback Riding. 903-938-8019  Visit Karma Farms and take a guided pack trip through the forests of Northeast Texas.  They have trails for novice riders and more experienced riders.  Real cowboy adventures await the hardy souls who saddle up with their team of lifetime Westerners.  Cowboy cooking at its best served from a real chuck wagon that accompanies longer trail rides.  Karma Farms also offers half day and horse drawn hay rides.

Austin St., Jefferson, TX 75657, The "Atalanta" has a luxurious interior with four staterooms, lounge, dining room, kitchen butler's pantry and bathroom.  Ironically, the car is within a stone's throw of the Excelsior Hotel, in whose register Gould wrote "The end of Jefferson".  Tours from the Excelsior House, 9:00, 12:00, 2:30 and 4:30. $1.00 Adults, Children 50¢.

  15. BulletTurning Basin Bayou Tour. 903-665-2222 . 1001 Bayou St., Jefferson, TX 75657.  Located across the Polk St. Bridge from downtown.  One hour narrated tour of Texas' largest inland port. April through October at 10:00, 12:00, 2:00 & 4:00 seven days a week.  (weather permitting). March, November and the first half of December, 12:00 & 2:00. Adults - $6.50 Children - 12 and under - $4.00, including tax.


Tour Homes

Several homes are available for tour throughout the year.  The 19th century homes offer a look back at Texas history.


  1. Bullet Alley-McKay House 800.468.2627/ 903-665.7322. 306 E Delta St., Jefferson, TX 75657.  One of the oldest homes in Jefferson, the 1851 Alley-McKay House offers tours daily at noon.


  2. BulletFreeman Plantation: Go West on Hwy. 49 one mile from the intersection of Hwy 49 and Hwy 59.  903-665-2320, the graceful Greek revival structure embodies the building style that distinguished so many Louisiana plantation homes. Giant magnolias and period furnishings complement the house, which has been cited by the Historic American Buildings Committee of the Department of the Interior.  Tours by appointment.

BulletThe Grove. 903-665-8018 405 Moseley Jefferson, TX 75657.  Guided Tour through one of the historical - and haunted - homes from Jefferson’s past...  Join us for an hour-long excursion into the historic old home that has been called "the most haunted house in Jefferson".  Usual Tour Times (but please call to confirm): Saturdays 2 PM, Sundays 11 AM.  Admission: $6.  No children under 8 years of age, please.

Soda St., Jefferson, TX 75657.  Built in 1859, a Greek Revival home located in the older portion of Jefferson, close to the Jefferson Historic District, and an easy walk from downtown. Daily at 1 pm.  or other times by appointment. Admission: $7.
